Fall 2005 Retreats
Heal the Healers
A series of days for healers and care takers who need a day of catching our breath and reclaiming personal Sabbath time for rest and renewal. You may come to one or several of the days. Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes and be prepared for a day of fun, rest, camaraderie and relaxation. Choose from the following days and topics:
The Art of Transformation: Restoring the Flow
Treat yourself to a time of restoration by exploring your needs for a personal sanctuary and create a self-sustaining, free flowing fountain to anchor your home, office or quiet space. Karen Spencer, an art therapist, will be the primary facilitator for the day. Participants should bring a container—a bowl, pitcher, pot, or bucket of pottery, tin, china or glass—that you can envision as a fountain. As you create the fountain, we will explore what you can do to increase your own energy and spiritual flow. (Healing Ground will supply the other necessary components; the price of these additional materials is included in the cost.
Friday, September 9, 2005, 10am–3:00pm at River Birch Studio. $70 cost includes lunch and materials.
Fall into New Life
As the trees surrender their leaves, come surrender your responsibility to others for this one fall day. Allow yourself to let go of all that is heavy and dance lightly with the leaves. Marion McCollum, a psychologist, counselor, and spiritual director, will lead participants in learning how to pause and harvest the gifts of your life, and go forward to offer them joyously and freely to others.
Friday, October 21, 2005, 10am–3:00pm at River Birch Studio. $55 cost includes lunch and materials.
Discover the Zen of Watercolor
NO previous art experience is required for this creative and spirit filled day led by Beth Walker, a zany and highly energetic retreat leader. Participants will engage their body, mind, and spirit in creating a watercolor mandala and learn applications for their personal and professional lives.
Monday, November 7, 2005, 10am–3:00pm at River Birch Studio. $55 cost includes lunch and materials.
As Jesus Spoke: Part I
The Lord’s Prayer embodies the central teachings of Jesus and helps us remember what is important in life. Ann Bosch, our retreat leader, studied for nine years with Aramaic scholar Neil Douglas-Klotz, and will lead us in learning the words and accompanying breath meditations and body movements so that we may participate in the sound and feeling of the first four lines of this prayer in Aramaic. This will be a review for some and a perfect chance to learn these lines so that you can join us for the weekend retreat and complete the prayer and have an opportunity to dance the entire prayer. Nancy Hunkins will accompany us on her violin.
Thursday, September 29, 2005, 6–10:00pm at Tatum House. Suggested Love Offering $15–25.
As Jesus Spoke: Part II
Ann Bosch, a gifted spiritual teacher who has studied with Neil Douglas-Klotz, will continue to teach the Aramaic translation of the Lord’s Prayer with accompanying breath meditations and movement. The retreat will end with the complete dance of the Lord’s Prayer. Nancy Hunkins will provide accompaniment with her violin.
Friday, September 30, 2005, 7–9:30pm and Saturday, October 1, 2005, 9:30am–5pm at Tatum House. Suggested Love Offering $75–90 includes Saturday lunch.
Fall Workday at Healing Ground
Join us for a Benedictine day of good work, fellowship and fun as we harvest produce and prepare the grounds for the winter season. Lunch provided—just let us know you are coming so the cook can shop accordingly.
