Winter 2007 Retreats

The Enneagram and Spiritual Practice

The enneagram is a comprehensive psycho-spiritual typology that helps us understand our personality and our relationships. At its deepest level, it is a map to wholeness that helps us remember who we are and what we came here to do. This bimonthly series is designed for people who have had an introduction to the enneagram, know their enneagram type and are serious about working on their own journey back to essence and to life giving service.

Led by Dee Irwin, enneagram teacher, retreat leader and co-director of Healing Ground retreat center.

There will be two groups this winter:

She Who is All Names & Escapes All Naming: Sacred Play with the Divine Feminine

Join us for a day of creating altars together, dancing, singing and reflection—both silent and noisy. The altars we will create are generative, embodied spaces for insight, revelation and ceremony. Our intention is to meet at the edge of our knowing of the divine feminine to honor and engage with her and form a teaching circle. Each woman’s experience, traditions, lineage, spiritual practices, creative energies, and emotional life will enrich the knowing of us all and our collective spiritual journey. The altars will be created from fabric, flowers, gifts of nature, our own collage materials plus treasures and personal mementos of the participants. They will reflect the power of what we’ve made with our hands and hearts as we call out the nameless/all names goddess herself.

As you set your intention for the retreat, be aware of objects, treasures, fabric, photos, gifts from nature that capture your interest. Bring with you any of them that ask to be part of the altar. Wear comfortable clothing and bring your lunch. Drinks and snacks provided.

About the retreat leaders: Adele Wayman is a professional artist and Hege Professor of Art at Guilford College. Anne Deloria is a dancer, former professor of Dance at UNCG and is currently in private practice as an energy body worker.

RESCHEDULED to SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 2007 (from Saturday, November 18, 2006) 10am–4 pm. Suggested donation is $65.

Knit One, Pray Too Retreats

“they will be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love”
—Colossians 2:2

Knitters have discovered a ministry at their finger-tips. This is a time for beginners and experts to share their interest, relax and have a day of reflection, blessings and knitting. Many knit prayer shawls, caps for newborns, premature babies or chemo patients. Others have fashioned scarves, socks, and blankets to honor or celebrate milestones for family or friends. Participants should bring their own materials. Instructions and a list of materials for different projects will be provided. If you have questions contact Pat Bailey at Healing Ground 643-8898.

Please note there are two scheduled dates; join us for one or both:

Step by Step, Side by Side: Step Up to Easter

Patti Gilbert

Ash Wednesday, February 21, begins Lent, the 40-day season of preparation for Easter. Lent invites Christians to prepare purposefully to ready themselves to receive the glorious message of Easter, not only on Easter Sunday but also throughout its Great Fifty Days. The Fourth Step in The Twelve Step Program involves making a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. The experience of observing the Christian Liturgical Year parallels the sequence and experience of the spiritual journey of working the Twelve Step program. This retreat provides an opportunity for participants to make plans for their own observance of Lent which may include working the Fourth Step. The retreat will include information about historic Lenten practices, suggestions for Lenten and Fourth Step activities, and ample time protected for personal reflection and planning.

Led by Patti Colliver Gilbert, a teacher and facilitator who has had intense involvement with both the Liturgical Year and the Twelve Step Program in her 40 years of professional service.

Saturday, February 17, 2007, 9am-4pm in the Studio. $85 includes lunch.
